About

Money moves toward what can be proven.

A solar roof, a more efficient production line, an electric bus fleet: each one reaches a lender as a file, not an idea. If the file cannot show what the asset is, what it saves and how anyone will check, the money waits. Most impact never gets financed for that reason. Nobody built the proof.

What I work on

I work in sustainable finance at a commercial bank in Cairo, on the lender's side of EBRD and IFC credit lines for energy efficiency, renewables, clean transport and small businesses: environmental and social risk, climate risk, financed emissions under PCAF, carbon markets and CBAM, green retail products and EDGE green building certification.

I run this work as product work: cross-functional squads, backlogs written as outcomes a credit officer can see, and tools built once instead of checks run twice by hand. Python, SQL, Excel and AI-assisted automation.

Before banking

I trained as an engineer and worked in the network operations centre at Telecom Egypt, where I also built and sold a home automation product. It worked, and it showed me I understood products better than money. So I went to learn money: Blockchain Research Analyst at Three Arrows Capital, a crypto fund that wound down in 2022, then an MSc in Business Analytics with a dissertation on machine learning for Paris alignment.
